About Me
Tess Mar 2024.jpg
My  name is Tess Padilla and

I am a classically trained violinist and graduate of the Indiana University School of Music, (now called the Jacobs School of Music) with a Bachelor of Violin Performance and extensive training in chamber music. Formerly the concertmaster of the Pueblo Symphony, I have over thirty years experience as a liturgical and secular soloist and chamber musician performing for various organizations and celebrations in and around my community. I am currently employed by the Diocese of Pueblo at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. I am a member of Southern Colorado Music Teacher's Association (chapter of CMTA and MTNA) and the American String Teacher's Association. (ASTA).

As adjunct faculty at CSU-Pueblo I taught applied violin and viola to beginning through advanced students ranging in age from teens to adults as well as cello and bass instruction. Besides applied string lessons, I also was the director of the University Chamber Orchestra and taught string pedagogy to all music education majors at the University. Since my prior work experience was with older students, I completed coursework in the music instruction of younger students aged pre-K through elementary in order to round out my teaching abilities to better serve students of any age.

I am currently a member of two performing chamber music ensembles. I perform with the Raphaeli String Trio as the first violinist. The Raphaeli String Trio performs concerts at local venues and also is available for weddings, receptions and other social gatherings, and as liturgical musicians for church services. I also perform with the  Scheherazade Piano Trio as the violinist. The Scheherazade Piano Trio has performed concerts in the Southern Colorado region including the Classically Alive! concert series in Colorado Springs.

Indiana University Jacobs School of Music

The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington, Indiana, is a music conservatory established in 1921. Until 2005, it was known as the Indiana University School of Music. It has more than 1,500 students, approximately half of whom are undergraduates, with the second largest enrollment of all music schools accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

The school has more than 175 full-time faculty members that include performers, scholars, and teachers of international renown. In addition, many top musicians and scholars come to the school each year to give master classes and guest lectures or to serve as visiting artistic directors, conductors, and faculty. Owing to the large size of the school, there are thirteen choirs, three bands and seven orchestras at the school. They encompass a broad range of sizes and musical styles and include the Singing Hoosiers, Opera Chorus, Wind Ensemble, Baroque Orchestra, Concentus, Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as various jazz ensembles.

My Music Background

While at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, I had the privilege of studying with numerous well known performers and pedagogues of the time. My applied violin technical studies were in the studio of Mr. Tadeusz Wronski who was the head of the Frederic Chopin Conservatory in Warsaw, Poland. He was a master of violin technique and his teaching method was able to correct any technical problems a violinist might have had in playing. In addition to my solo studies, I studied and performed extensively in small chamber ensembles coached by various respected artists including Mr. James Buswell (Lincoln Center Chamber Society), Mr. Rostislav Dubinsky (founding 1st violinist of the Borodin Quartet), Mr. Peter Marsh (1st violinist in the Lenox Quartet), Mr. Stanley Ritchie (leading exponent of baroque and classical violin performance), and Dr. Joseph Rezits (pianist, soloist, and esteemed pedagogue).
