4.   TUITION:

1. Payment Terms

The Tuition for the Music Instruction Program is $ ___________ for every three lessons or $__________ for a semester of lessons. The Tuition shall be paid in one of the following manners:

  • Paid in Full:  Payment in full of $ _________ is due by first lesson of the semester and is due by the first lesson of the semester. If a full semester of lessons is prepaid, there will be a discount given on the lesson package.

  • Installments:   The Tuition shall be paid in monthly installments of $ _________ each.  Each installment covers three lessons and is due by the first lesson of the three lesson package.

  • Invoices for the installments will be emailed at the beginning of the month through Square and the invoices are payable on the first lesson of that month or as stated on invoice.  If not paid by the due date, a late fee may be automatically added to the installment with payment reminder.  If the installment is not paid within 7 days after it is due, there will be no further Music Instruction until all delinquent payments, including late fees, are paid in full.

2. Refunds

  • If a student/parent decides to discontinue taking lessons from the studio, the studio requests at least one-month advance notice. Depending upon the reason for the termination, the studio MAY refund pre-paid lessons at its discretion but is not required to do so.

  • Teacher Termination: The studio reserves the right to terminate the contract with the student/parent if the student has excessive absences or if the teacher determines that the student is not cooperating or progressing in his or her music studies. Prior to any decision to terminate, the teacher will meet with the parents to discuss the situation. Refunds for pre-paid lessons will be provided at the discretion of the studio.

3. Discretionary Make-up Lessons:

The studio DOES NOT give credits or refunds for lessons missed by a student or same day cancellations by the parent or student. However, if a student provides at least 48 hours advance notice of an expected absence and if the reason for the absence is in the judgement of the studio beyond the reasonable control of the student (e.g. illness, inclement weather, etc.), then the studio MAY provide make-up lessons IF a time slot is available. The offering of a make-up lesson will be within the complete discretion of the studio. If a time slot is not available, the studio MAY give credit to the next month's lessons. This is NOT a guarantee that credit will be given for missed lesson by the student.

4. Teacher Absence:

Illness or other emergencies may arise which prevent the teacher from offering a lesson at a scheduled time. If the teacher is unable to provide a scheduled lesson due to illness or other reasons, make-up lessons will be scheduled at a time when the student and teacher are available. If a time slot is not available, a credit WILL be given towards the next month's lesson fees.

5. Parent Attendance at Lessons:

The Studio encourages parents/guardians to attend and quietly observe lessons for their children, especially younger students. The studio does reserve the right to exclude a parent if the teacher determines that the parent’s presence is disturbing the child or impeding his or her progress. It is highly recommended that the parent take notes at the lesson in order to remember what is being taught in order to help the younger student practice at home. Some music studios do not welcome parents in the studio because they think that the parent's presence might inhibit the child from expressing themselves freely or allow the child to grow in independence. This is NOT the philosophy of my studio. I believe that the parent has a place in their child's instruction.

6. Younger siblings at lessons:

The Studio requests that younger siblings of the student do not attend the student's lessons unless they are well behaved. The younger sibling is often distracting and desires attention, taking the attention away from the older sibling. Please make arrangements to keep younger children at home. The music student deserves the instructor's undivided attention.
